on my mind today....

Fall seems to have come so fast!! Last week we were enjoying the last week on summer with days in the 80's- then suddenly, this week it's in the low 70's- humidity is gone and the fall chill comes at night. I've already seen some trees with leaves that have either changed color or already fallen!!

I'm torn. I LOVE all of my fall decorations and candles, but i'm not really sure I'm ready for that yet. Fall is my favorite season, but every year it comes so fast.

I'm a little disappointed that I wasn't able to fulfill my goal of getting really into running this summer. When I hurt my back in the beginning of July- I wasn't able to move, let alone run for about a month because of the intense pain. So- my goal has officially changed. I recently discovered that I really prefer to run in cooler weather and I do better too- so running will be my goal for this fall. I've been making a consious effort to do stretches and excersizes for my back and I think that it is really helping and that i will really be able to succeed.

Nick changed the music on my ipod shuffle. I've been listening to the same songs at work for awhile now and it's sooo nice to have new songs!! Listening to some Aerosmith right now....CRaaazy....good stuff.

We have had no internet at home for about a week. The verizon guy is coming today to fix. It's been weird not having the internet, but kinda freeing....we've spent more time getting other stuff done which is kinda nice. I would never want to get rid of the internet permanently, but it was a good change.

My birthday was last Saturday and it was wonderful! One- I was able to spend time with my family at dinner and then for apple pie back at my house. I LOVE apple pie- one of the best foods ever!! Two- 3 day weekend for my birthday!! Can't beat that!! three- My family and friends really showered me with love this year (they do every year) and i feel so blessed to have them all! Well- here's the the past quarter of a century and the start of another =-)

Firsts

Wow- It's hard to believe that one week from today, I'll be on a plane to FL! We'll be arriving sometime around 11. I'm very excited for this first ever trip to Disney.

Another first- I'll be taking care of my Aunt Pam's dog, Sparkie, while she is away next week. Who would have thought that I would be dog-sitting! Most people who know me, know that I'm not exactly a dog person- mainly because of dog drool. I can't stand when a dog licks me- it's especially the worst in the summer. The culprit- Flip flops! No protection for my poor little toes and dogs love to lick toes for some reason.

But Sparkie is different. Despite being a crazy dog who can't stand still, he's loveable and for some reason I'm not threatened by his tongue. I'll update you on how my experience as a psuedo-dog owner turns out.

"In our weakness...He is strong"

I've been reminded of this verse lately, especially after such an eventful weekend.

For those of who we haven't seen yet or talked to about our weekend, it was a very hard and trying weekend. It seemed that whatever could go wrong, did. And just when you thought it was over for awhile, something else happened. I wanted to share it on here so you could hear from us rather than through the grapevine...so here it goes.

To make what could be a VERY long story and long post short and sweet- here is a list of what we went through:

-I was rear ended on friday afternoon on my way home from work- nothing bad, just some chipped paint on my bumper which is being fixed soon.
-We noticed that our Radon mitigation system fan was not working (which was fixed shortly, but a scare nonetheless)
-Nick's car was towed to a shady place in Schuylerville from Mechanicville and was damaged in the process. I could go on and on with the rude people and constant annoyances that were involved with this whole thing, but I won't.
-We lost hot water (which we later found was the pilot going out), but we still had to take cold showers.
-Other smaller things not really worth mentioning, but still adding to the stress that we were feeling.

All this on top of trying to fix our home from the water damage has just tired us out.
Pray for us. We are tired. We need to re-energize. We need to not slack on our time with God and with each other.

We have been constantly counting our blessing through this experience, knowing that these problems are only with material things. We are thankful that we are safe and healthy and that we have our friends and family who love us. PS- I love hugs =)

Good Intentions

I've never been one to blog, but lately, after reading my Aunt's blog, I feel up for the challenge. I don't know if mine will be as interesting as hers, but I will try! Thanks for the inspiration, Aunt Pam!
