Final stretch

I can't believe that I'm typing right now that I'm exactly 38 weeks today!  It's so surreal to think about how close we are to meeting our little girl...last August, it seemed like FOREVER until April!  and here we are...what in the world!?

In other news, pray for me in the job department- there are some opportunities.  I don't want to share too much on the world wide web just yet, but I can say that I'll need to make a decision soon.

Woah- Didn't expect that one....

It's Wednesday, January 12th 2011.  The northeast is getting a pretty decent snowstorm.  Schools closed- even Nick got the day off.  My plan- to work from home.  The snow is majorly piling up outside, and it's pretty.  Nice day to work from home and stay cozy.
Mid-day I got a sametime message (a corporate version of aim) from my boss's boss.  My initial thought was "this can't be good".  Someone who I've never spoken with once since he started only a couple of months ago wants me to join a call with him??  oh boy.  First words out of his mouth "Beacuse we're trying to meet a budget, your position is being eliminated"  (translation- beacuse it only costs us 20% of what we pay you to hire someone in India, we're outsourcing your job)
Shocker.  Blow.  Can't believe what i'm hearing.
Then comes "but since you do have a maternity claim coming up soon, we are going to honor that still."  (Can I say Phew?  what a relief?!?)
Considering the circumstances, I'm doing ok.  I've been asked so many times what I was going to do about work once the baby arrives, and until now, it's always been up in the air- I was going to play it by ear.  I guess God had a solid answer for me!  His plan is better than anything else and I couldn't be more secure following His way.  I'm actually starting to look forward to some extra time spent with my little girl Elise!!

New schedule

I've been spending my days trying to get used to a new schedule- and, I must add, it is a wonderful new schedule. My commute to work is half the time it used to be. I leave for work 45 minutes later than I used to so the extra sleep and not as much rushing in the morning is great. I also leave work later but still manage to get home around the same time as I used to! It's amazing! More time in the morning and same time in the afternoon! And only 10 mins in the car is also saving me gas money!
I've found myself feeling so much more awake in the morning as I drive to work. This will be good for me once we're in the middle of winter. I struggled with the long commute to work in the cold, snowy, dark mornings- those factors mixed with tiredness was not good. God is defintely blessing me in many ways with this new job! Not just the regular incentives, but little things too!

Job is going great. Day 4 today- still learning a lot and getting to know people. This is a great office and I even get to wear jeans to work!!

New News

I have a new job. I start 1 week from today. I have some mixed feelings. I'm so excited to be moving up in my career but sad to be leaving people that I have spent a lot of time with over the past year and a half.
It's always weird to be at a new job- to be leaving a place where you know the processes and way things are and instead be new to everything. Going from being the person who answers the questions to the person who asks the questions. It will sure be different- but fun too. I really believe that God has placed this job in my path and I'm thrilled to see what he has for me next.

In other news, we just got a free treadmill tonight. I'm excited to be able to use it this winter. My goal- to run in the turkey trot on thanksgiving morning. 5k- we'll see....
