The Wrong Kind of Determination?

This morning, as I was eating my cheerios, I glanced out the window and saw a robin in a tree.  This particular tree stands right next to my neighbors' garage- and directly in front of a window.  As I watched, the perched bird left the branch and attempted to fly into the window.  It must have seen the reflection and really wanted to go there.  Obviously it hit the glass each time and fluttered around a bit to see if it could sneak in, but each time, ended up back at the same branch of the tree.  The robin waited a few seconds, then tried again....and again...and again.  It didn't give up.  It must have really liked what it saw in there....and was determined to get there

I couldn't help but think about how determination can be good and bad.  We're all taught the be determined.  To put your mind to something, and then get it done.  It's a good thing.  But i think can also be bad.  If I'm determined to do something that is not God's will for me, then I'm exerting my energy toward something that is not honoring Him.  How many times do I try and try and try, just like the robin, and God says "No" ?  Such a waste of time and energy that could be used for God in a way that is more pleasing and glorifying to Him.

I guess that's all for now.  I love lessons learned from random observations.  It gives me a new perspective on the idea that those who have not heard the gospel can still observe God through His nature....

Firsts

Wow- It's hard to believe that one week from today, I'll be on a plane to FL! We'll be arriving sometime around 11. I'm very excited for this first ever trip to Disney.

Another first- I'll be taking care of my Aunt Pam's dog, Sparkie, while she is away next week. Who would have thought that I would be dog-sitting! Most people who know me, know that I'm not exactly a dog person- mainly because of dog drool. I can't stand when a dog licks me- it's especially the worst in the summer. The culprit- Flip flops! No protection for my poor little toes and dogs love to lick toes for some reason.

But Sparkie is different. Despite being a crazy dog who can't stand still, he's loveable and for some reason I'm not threatened by his tongue. I'll update you on how my experience as a psuedo-dog owner turns out.
