This morning, as I was eating my cheerios, I glanced out the window and saw a robin in a tree. This particular tree stands right next to my neighbors' garage- and directly in front of a window. As I watched, the perched bird left the branch and attempted to fly into the window. It must have seen the reflection and really wanted to go there. Obviously it hit the glass each time and fluttered around a bit to see if it could sneak in, but each time, ended up back at the same branch of the tree. The robin waited a few seconds, then tried again....and again...and again. It didn't give up. It must have really liked what it saw in there....and was determined to get there
I couldn't help but think about how determination can be good and bad. We're all taught the be determined. To put your mind to something, and then get it done. It's a good thing. But i think can also be bad. If I'm determined to do something that is not God's will for me, then I'm exerting my energy toward something that is not honoring Him. How many times do I try and try and try, just like the robin, and God says "No" ? Such a waste of time and energy that could be used for God in a way that is more pleasing and glorifying to Him.
I guess that's all for now. I love lessons learned from random observations. It gives me a new perspective on the idea that those who have not heard the gospel can still observe God through His nature....

Makes me sad-
Just found this in an article online-
"President Barack Obama plans to sign an executive order ending the ban on federal funds for international groups that promote or perform abortions..."
I don't really know what to say except that it really makes me sad...Taxpayer dollars going towards abortions?!?

Friends
Nick and I have been blessed with many good friends. The hard part is that most of them live at least 3 hrs or more away. The good part is that when we DO get to spend time together, it makes it that much more special.
I guess that's what you get when you go to college far from home. And it's what you get when your friends go to college far from home, meet their now spouses, get married, and move far away. It's crazy to think how quickly life changes!
We get to spend time with the Rowes tonight. I'm very excited for it. I'm so thankful for good friends and then chance to spend time with them when they're in town.

New News
I have a new job. I start 1 week from today. I have some mixed feelings. I'm so excited to be moving up in my career but sad to be leaving people that I have spent a lot of time with over the past year and a half.
It's always weird to be at a new job- to be leaving a place where you know the processes and way things are and instead be new to everything. Going from being the person who answers the questions to the person who asks the questions. It will sure be different- but fun too. I really believe that God has placed this job in my path and I'm thrilled to see what he has for me next.
In other news, we just got a free treadmill tonight. I'm excited to be able to use it this winter. My goal- to run in the turkey trot on thanksgiving morning. 5k- we'll see....

Internet
Nick and I have been living at our new house now for a little over a month- and we love it!
I have to say, though, that the weirdest part about this past month is our lack of connection with the world....meaning no television or internet. No tv hasn't been as hard, but the lack of the good old world wide web has gotten to the point of stressing us out at times.
We stay connected with people, check the weather, get recipies for dinner, and even pay our bills online! It is almost a daily part of our lives!
Why is the world today so "dependant" on the internet? I always find myself wondering how we survived without it just a few years ago. I'm still pretty young, but I do remember when dial up launched and popularity began to grow until it became commonplace. It's crazy to think how quickly internet access went from being a luxury to a necessity!
Today is our first day with internet at home! It's very exciting!
